#11: The Beatles – Across The Universe

Howdy followers!

You might think I don’t care the blog, but I don’t have enough time actually. I study 4 hours more or less, so you can imagine… I’m quite tired. I’ve stopped just a second to post something. I’ve chosen this song because it’s my favourite of The Beatles. This is a good moment for listen to it… Hope you like it!

As always, lyrics below the video!

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup,
They slither while they pass they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind,
Possessing and caressing me.
Jai guru deva, om
Nothing’s gonna change my world,
Nothing’s gonna change my world.
Nothing’s gonna change my world.
Nothing’s gonna change my world.

Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes,
They call me on and on across the universe,
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box
They tumble blindly as they make their way
Across the universe
Jai guru deva, om,
Nothing’s gonna change my world,
Nothing’s gonna change my world.
Nothing’s gonna change my world.
Nothing’s gonna change my world.

Sounds of laughter shades of life are ringing
Through my opened ears inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying Love which shines around me like a
million suns, and calls me on and on
Across the universe
Jai guru deva, om,
Nothing’s gonna change my world,
Nothing’s gonna change my world.
Nothing’s gonna change my world.
Nothing’s gonna change my world.

Jai guru deva
Jai guru deva
Jai guru deva
Jai guru deva

#10: Theory of Five Elements (III)

Howdy World!

After one week without post anything, I bring the last post about the Theory of Five elements. It’s been a little tiring… not? But the information is quite interesting! The last posts we’ve seen were about:

1. The concept and uses in phytotherapy

2. A table with each element and their attributions.

And at last but not least, I’m going to explain two basic interactions between the elements, two cycles:

Generating interaction:

– Wood feeds Fire

– Fire creates Earth (ash)

– Earth has Metal

– Metal carries Water (as a container)

– Water feeds Wood

Overcoming interaction:

– Wood retains Earth

– Earth absorbs Water

– Water extinguishes Fire

– Fire melts Metal

– Metal chops Wood

#9: Theory of Five Elements (II)

Howdy!

Ok, let’s begin the second post about the Theory of Five Elements. I just want to clarify that there’re a lot of theories based in five elements, such us the Greek, Japanese, Tibetan… We’re talking about the Chinese.

Ups… I’ve just realised that I didn’t say what are the five elements in the last post (I’m a little bit scatterbrain, sorry). They are: wood, fire, earth, metal and water.

Here you are a table about five elements I’ve done combining information of several sources. Hope you find this interesting. Quality is not so good, but… I couldn’t do more :(      [Click here better quality]

#8: Theory of Five Elements (I)

Howdy World!

Sorry but I’ve been on holidays these last days in Portugal. It’s quite beautiful! I’ll post some photos, I promise.

Today, we’re going to continue with Oriental phytotherapy. To sum up that we’ve seen up to now: Oriental phytotherapy is the “mother” of Western phytotherapy. To assimilate it we need to understand some concepts. We’ve only seen “Ying” and “Yang” which are two opposite and complementary forces [click here to see more]. Ok, all right? Let’s start with the theory of Five Elements.

This system let to understand better how body, mind and spirit work. It’s like a complement for Ying and Yang theory. It’s based in the belief that life is a process in continue change, it’s a cycle.

When we work well, all our elements are balanced, but if that’s not the case we could get sick because we have a lack, an imbalance in an element. The finality of the diagnosis of the five elements is to isolate and treat this imbalance, to improve the force in our body, mind and spirit.

It’s a little bit complicated, I know. Summarizing, the process is to detect the lack of any element through the signs you show. After, the specialist have to balance the lack in this element using the information I’ll post other day. So sorry but if I don’t cut the post it will be quite long. So, see you!

#6: The Eagles – Hotel California

Howdy!

This song brings me a lot of memories with my family. Our trips with all those endless hours in the car listening songs like this. But I think the most important thing was that we were together. I’ll always treausure these records in my memory, my best memories with you, with my family. Love you forever.

Lyrics below the video :)

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
“This could be Heaven or this could be Hell”
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say…

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year (Any time of year)
You can find it here

Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes bends
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the Captain,
“Please bring me my wine”
He said, “We haven’t had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine”
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say…

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
They livin’ it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise)
Bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said “We are all just prisoners here, of our own device”
And in the master’s chambers,
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can’t kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
“Relax, ” said the night man,
“We are programmed to receive.
You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave! “

#5: Yin and Yang

Howdy! Today we’re going to talk about Yin and Yang, one of the concepts we must assimilate to understand how Oriental phytotherapy works.

Yin and yang are concepts that represent two opposite but complementary forces in the universe.

Yin is dark, passive, female, cold and negative.

Yang is bright, active, male, warm and positive.

They have some basic principles, of which are main:

1. One can’t exist without the other because the joint is whole. For example: the light (Yang) can’t exist without darkness (Yin) and vice versa.

2. Both form a cycle without end. After summer (Yang) comes autumn (young Yin) and winter (Yin) and after spring (young Yang). Finally, the cycle comes back to summer (Yang).

3. They must be in balance. For example: after exercising (Yang), we need to have a rest (Yin).

4. There’s anything completed if there’s not one of them. For example: Chinese medicine is not completed if there’s a lack of acupuncture (Yang) or phytotherapy (Yin).

5. There’s a little bit of one in the other. For example: in the night (Yin) there’s light in the stars (Yang).

6. There are different degrees within them. For example: cold (Yang) can be cool or frozen, whereas hot (Yin) can be warm or burning.

(The numeration is not relevant; it’s just to make the analysis in the symbol below.)

1: as you can see the circle is whole and if there wasn’t one of them the circle would be uncompleted.

2: when we finish one we are in the other, and when we finish this we’ll be in the other again (a cycle).

3: if there’s more Yin or Yang, we’ll be in an unbalanced situation.

4: to form the whole, we need both parts. So, if there’s not one of them the whole won’t be completed.

5: when we reach the thicker side of one of them, we see a point of the opposite. That means there’s a little bit of one in the other.

6: there’s a narrower part (more balanced to the opposite) and a thicker one (in the maximum).

Yin and Yang also form part of the eight principles of the Chinese medicine. The other six are: cold and hot, interior and exterior, lack and excess. We’ll talk about them other day.

#4: Introduction to Oriental phytotherapy

We’re going to start in Orient because I strongly believe it’s the place where the herbal medicine was born. In other words, China is the cradle of phytotherapy.

Oriental phytotherapy uses herbs to treat and prevent a bad emotional, physical or mental disease. It forms with acupuncture the core of Chinese medical treatment, combining both therapies. Acupuncture acts with energy from the body, whereas phytotherapy add aliment to the body. So, it’s ideal for ill people that are weak.

Herbs come from China and Taiwan mainly. They’re stored in fresh dry places and are sold in pharmacies. Herbalists or pharmacists work in these establishments and dispense herbs, but they are not qualified to practise phytotherapy (to diagnose). However, there are also others specialists in this field that have been prepared to diagnose and treat people using herbal remedies, called specialists.

And last but not least, just add that we have to assimilate four basic concepts to understand how phytotherapy works. These are: “Ying” and “Yang”, the “Eight principles” of Chinese medicine, “Chi” or energy and the five elements. We’ll talk about them in next days.

I hope you’re finding interesting this information. It’s only the beginning. Please leave your opinion below.

#3: Introduction to phytotherapy

Hi followers! I hope you’ve read the text of Spanish revolution (here). I know it’s long, so you can read dividing it into smaller parts.

Well, today we’re going to talk about phytotherapy. But what’s it? It’s the science that studies medicinal plants and their derivativests aim is the prevention, healing and reliefs of diseases. For this reason, medicinal plants have been used as medicines for many years and their results have been tested. This is the work of phytotherapy.

The two lines of action are:

  • Traditional phytotherapy: we use the parts of the plant without be subject to chemical processes. These parts can be dried or fresh, but always in its natural state. You can take them from infusions, decoctions, essential oils, softening…
  • Scientific phytotherapy: pharmacology studies the plants and his active principles to know how to identify, extract and use these medicinal components. In other words, researchers make scientific studies of traditional phytotherapy data and use them to make medicaments. Of course the medicaments contain only the necessary principle actives in its just measure; I mean that the components have been purified using human means, not natural.

Here, in Green your mind, we’re going to deal with the first type, the traditional. As you will see, traditional phytotherapy can be also divided into two main groups by the area of use. Then, we distinguish Oriental phytotherapy from Western.

#2: Spanish revolution

Hi! Here you are the text read at Neptuno Square (next to the Congress of Spain) on September 29th. Two days after, I’ve copied it from http://coordinadora25s.wordpress.com/ In this webpage there’s also another in Spanish. I know I’m starting the blog with political and social themes, but I think it’s very important for us and our future. Please, reblog or spread this message throughout the world. Read it carefully.

Last 25S we called to surround the Congress of the members of parliament to rescue it from the kidnapping of the popular sovereignty carried out by the Troika and the financial markets. An occupation executed with the consent and colaboration of most of the political parties. Besides the constant threats, the manipulation of the media and the intense campaign to inflict fear in the people, thousands of people attended the call and said loud and clear that we have no fear, that we are together in this and that we are not going to stop until they resign and a Constituent process is started.

The answer of the Spanish government was based on hitting the demonstrators, using police infiltrators, arresting and hurting them with an outrageous violence as part of an amazing police deployment rarely seen in the past. The Government lost, however. The whole world has seen the TV images of its repression and harassment against the demonstrators, while the Spanish presidente, Mr. Rajoy´s speech at United Nations was extremely overshadowed due to our effective communication abilities. Right now there is an open debate about the legitimacy of the actions made during September-25, which roots deep inside the regular daily life- common people talk, debate, defend their ground. A great national conversation, involving the whole Spanish society, has begun, and this is the path we are willing to keep walking together.

We keep on learning. Today, September 29th, the streets have again been filled with thousands of people who say “enough” and want to pull the brakes on a reality that is turning more and more unbearable. And moreover, today, we went out to accompany and feel comforted by our portuguese, greeks and italians brothers and sisters who are surrounding their own parliaments. The “PIGS” are them, we are Southern Europe, and without the south there’s no Europe, there is no possible Europe

We continue to surround the Congress because we want to jump on in the social movilization and put that core in the recovery of the sovereignty and the citizen power, i.e., of the Democracy. In this year and a half we’ve learned to integrate, to think and to act collectively, striking up unforeseeable alligiances: tides of all colors taking the city; neighbours stopping evictions, civil servants closing off the streets… Now we know how to decipher complex economical and legal concepts, take care of ourselves and the others, comunicate better, administrate spaces and discussions on the net, on the squares and in our jobs; to laugh at the violent stupidity of the power, in front of which we resist instead of running. We have achieved to make the old struggling methods bigger, and we have carried out initiatives that we want to develop from the bases, without shortcuts, step by step. Because we believe that time for the decisions taken by a few is over, because in front of those who want to take our future away, we have the means and the collective intelligence to decide and build the society we want; because we don’t need false intermediates, but only collective resources and tools that actively fund the political participation of all the people in the common affairs.

We continue to surround the Congress to say “no” to those who decide to tell us what to do, that we are going to disobey their unfair impositions, such as paying their debt, and that we are going to defend the colletive rights: housing, education, health, employment, democratic participation, the rent. To start a process that allows that those responsible of the crisis don’t go unpunished, the pyromaniacs that created our crisis not to be rewarded and take them to court instead.

Neither the government of Zapatero, nor Rajoy’s have listened to us. Both have betrayed their own voters carrying out mesures that they promised they would never carry out. They don’t obey the citizens, they don’t have neither the courage nor the interest to do it. The government of Rajoy, therefore, doesn’t serve us and we demand their resignation.

Today the national budgets for next year had been presented. Those budgets are the result of a constitution reform performed within PSOE and PP without the citizen’s opinion on it. The budgets dedicate more money to pay an odious debt than to the social needs that could help to a collective wayout of the crisis. Those budgets are a shame to the national sovereignty, to the democracy. That is why we have to stop them.

We want to make a call to a new movilization for when the national budget is discussed in the Parliament. We want to be there again these days to say no, that ruling without asking the people first is over.

We demand the criminalization to stop, the freedom of the people still under detention and that all the charges attributed to the other comrades that were as well humillated and treated badly in police proceedures absolutely unbearable in a state based on the rule of law. An investigation about the police action during the 25S must be opened.

Those days we saw that we can, if we organize ourselves, if we communicate, if we use our nets and gain confidence, calm and collective intelligence. That is why we make a proposal to you, to participate in the Coordinadora 25S, not only here in Madrid, but everywhere else, organize your own nodes in this network, do your own calls… They are taking away from us the very little that we still have left to defend. We have absolutely everything to build.

We have no fear
We are going to surround the shameful budgets
They have to go
Yes we can.

And that’s all. I’ll give you time to read it in two or three days because it’s a little bit long. Please, share your opinion!

Smile :) -Leo
